NZTA Authorised Inspection Facility

Te Rapa Automotive is officially authorised by the New Zealand Transport Agency to perform Warrant of Fitness inspections. Our certified inspectors undergo rigorous training and follow strict quality assurance protocols to ensure your vehicle meets all safety requirements.

Understanding Your Warrant of Fitness

A Warrant of Fitness (WoF) is more than just a legal requirement—it's a comprehensive safety check that helps protect you, your passengers, and other road users. At Te Rapa Automotive, we perform thorough inspections to ensure your vehicle meets all safety standards while making the process as convenient as possible for you.

While it's your responsibility to maintain your vehicle in WoF-compliant condition between inspections, our team is here to guide you through the process and address any issues that might arise during your check.

WoF Inspection Schedule

Newer Vehicles

Vehicles first registered anywhere (in New Zealand or overseas) on or after January 1, 2000 require annual WoF inspections throughout their lifetime.

Classic Vehicles

Vehicles first registered before January 1, 2000 need more frequent safety checks with 6-monthly WoF inspections to ensure they remain roadworthy.

Brand New Vehicles

For new vehicles, after an initial inspection, the next WoF inspection isn't required until the 3rd anniversary of their first registration.

Important to Remember

  • ⚠️A WoF is not a pre-purchase inspection or a guarantee of your vehicle's mechanical condition.
  • ⚠️It's illegal to drive a vehicle without a valid WoF label or one that doesn't meet WoF requirements.
  • ⚠️If your vehicle fails inspection, you may only drive it to a repair facility or to get a new WoF—and only if it's safe to do so.
  • ⚠️Modified vehicles may require a low volume vehicle certificate. See our Modifications page for details.
